Educational & Knowledge Center
What types of drug tests are available?
- Urine Testing: Urine testing is the most common drug test because it is practical, widely available, and can detect many substances for hours to days after use.
- Saliva (Oral Fluid): Saliva, or oral fluid, is often used to detect more recent use (within a few hours up to about 48 hours).
- Blood Testing: Blood testing measures active drug levels in the body and is best for detecting current impairment, with a short detection window from minutes to hours.
- Hair Testing: Hair testing is used to identify long-term patterns of drug use, with a detection window of up to about 90 days.
What substances do standard panels test for?
- Standard 5-panel tests commonly look for marijuana (THC), cocaine, amphetamines, phencyclidine (PCP), and opioids.
- Expanded 10-panel tests include all 5-panel drugs, plus benzodiazepines, barbiturates, methadone, and additional prescription or synthetic drugs.
- As a key 2026 update, fentanyl has been added to federal drug testing panels and is increasingly included in expanded panels.
Can a test result in a false positive?
- Initial screening tests, such as immunoassays, can occasionally produce false positives due to cross-reactivity.
- However, confirmatory testing using highly specific methods like gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) greatly reduces this risk and is considered highly accurate.
- To avoid false positives, it is important to provide a complete and accurate history of all prescription, over-the-counter (OTC), and herbal products you are using.

Drug Testing Services FAQs
What types of drug testing services do you offer?
We offer a complete suite of drug testing options including urine drug screens (5-panel to 12-panel), oral fluid (saliva) testing, hair follicle testing (up to 90-day lookback), breath alcohol testing (BAT), and specialized testing for synthetic opioids and fentanyl.
How fast will I receive the drug test results?
Rapid screening tests provide negative results on the same day within minutes or hours. Standard laboratory-analyzed tests are typically reported within 24 to 48 hours. Non-negative results undergoing GC/MS confirmation may take 2 to 3 business days.
What is the difference between rapid testing and lab-based testing?
Rapid tests provide an immediate preliminary screen on-site, making them ideal for quick hiring decisions. Lab-based testing is performed at a certified laboratory and reviewed by a Medical Review Officer (MRO), making it legally defensible for court compliance, probation, or strict employer policies.
Do I need an appointment, or do you accept walk-ins?
We accept both walk-ins at our facility and pre-scheduled appointments for faster service. We also provide mobile testing services where our certified collectors come directly to your job site or location in San Dimas and Los Angeles County.
